Polo is one of Argentina\s landmark sports. Historically, Argentina was characterized for being the clear polo leader. Until 2008, the Argentine Polo Team had won the Polo World Cup on three occasions, apart from being the two-time awardee of the gold medal at the Olympic Games.

At present, the three most important polo tournaments around the world are played in Argentina. The Argentine Open Polo Championship, the Hurlingham Open and the Tortugas Open.

The Campo Argentino de Polo, which was inaugurated in 1928 and is popularly known as the "Cathedral of Polo", is located in the Palermo neighborhood in Buenos Aires on Libertador avenue, five-minutes' walk from Polo Suites. It is the current venue of the the Argentine Polo Open Championship.
